One Tortilla, Endless Possibilities

Tortilla.jpg
Tortillas are one of the most versatile foods, allowing you to wrap up just about anything and call it a meal. All under five minutes we rolled up some turkey, salami, provolone, and dijon mustard in these. Throw in some fruit and with minimal effort, your tummy will smile. Now let's talk about the tortilla for a minute. The main reason I bought some this week is because of their long shelf life. Making the most of and having the right pantry items is very important these days, and being that bread goes stale in about a week, I wanted to have another bread option in the house. Did you know that tortillas last 3-4 months when you store them in the fridge? That's right, so much longer than bread, and they can be used in so many different ways. Needless to say, I bought us three packs this week. Let's look at all the fun things you can do with a tortilla. Of course, you make a quick sandwich like we had today incorporating your go-to deli meats. Peanut butter and jelly is also a great option. Or, wait for it....peanut butter, honey, and banana. I lived on these for a phase. Delish if you've never tried! Our second most favorite way to use a tortilla is to make quesadillas. Ridiculously easy. Ridiculously good. You can use them for tuna salad, egg salad, or chicken salad wraps. Make some ground beef or turkey tacos, or go big and do fish tacos. Chicken fajitas, cheese enchiladas... Did you know you can even wrap a burger or hot dog in them? And this is just talking about lunch. Tortillas can be pulled into breakfast by simply using them in a bacon, egg, and cheese breakfast wrap or breakfast burritos or tacos. Dessert? Sure! Why not make an ice cream taco? Sprinkle your tortilla with cinnamon and sugar. Cook it in the oven until golden brown. Put a dollop of your favorite ice cream in the middle. Add some sprinkles or drizzle with fudge and wrap it up. Simply delightful! So don't let the tortilla fool you. It's one of the most complicatedly simple foods you can have in your pantry right now. Stock up and start exploring!
