Birthday Cookies

It’s my brother-in-law and his youngest son’s birthday today. They were actually supposed to be visiting us from Chicago this week during their spring break. We were all so looking forward to spending some quality time together, especially the boys. The cousins love one another so much. In light of what’s going on we ended up cancelling those plans. We’ll reschedule when things get back to normal.

We Facetimed a little this morning, and when I asked my sister-in-law if she made a cake, she texted me this pic. No cake, but these adorable cookies instead. Its one way to make a stay-at-home birthday a little less solemn.

As we’re all facing new challenges each day and coping with how to handle quarantined life, I encourage you to finds ways to keep your spirits high and your hope up. That could simply be reflecting on what you’re grateful for at the beginning or end of each day. It could simply be enjoying a cookie with a loved one. Yes, we’re in a very tough time right now, but this too shall pass. Keep your mind healthy, and the rest will follow. And when the universe hands you lemons, go make some lemonade.
